What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist position at Orthopedic ONE?
POSITION SUMMARY
The staff Physical Therapist is directly responsible to the Director, and/or his designee, and has the responsibility for overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of professional and supportive staff, volunteers, and students in their area of the physical therapy department/facility.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Evaluations:
Responsible for the evaluation of all patients referred for physical therapy.
Responsible for completion and submission of all reports pertaining to the evaluation.
Effectively communicates with referral sources, other departments, and external agencies regarding evaluative findings and patient’s needs.
Treatment Quality:
Ensures that Physical Therapy Practices are consistent with the American Physical Therapy Association Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and Standards of Practice policy in this manual.
Treats patients of all ages (e.g., infants, children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, elderly, ages 0–120 years), race, creed, gender, and disability without bias or prejudice.
Demonstrates respect and understanding of the patient’s right to treatment and right to involvement in treatment decisions. Patient- centric shared decision making.
Practices ethical responsibility based on the cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs of the patients served as applicable by law.
Demonstrates treatment skills that are rooted in evidence-based practice guidelines while balancing both patient and provider expectations and needs.
Confers with the person(s) most closely associated with the active management of the patient to keep them informed of any additional patient needs, treatment modification, and/or progress
Treatment Quantitative:
Maintains a patient treatment schedule consistent with the needs of the department/facility.
Practices caseload management as it pertains to NS, CXL and reschedules. Provides appropriate visits per referral, including frequency, duration based on POC determined with referring provider. Demonstrates the ability to manage the episode of care using both HEP and clinic visits
Billing/CPT or RVU matches the time spent with patient, within department standards.
Records and Reports:
Prepares and submits department/facility reports, assuring confidentiality of all records:
Evaluation reports/summaries.
Discharge reports/summaries.
Progress reports to referring physicians and agencies.
Daily notes completed in a timely fashion while supporting medical necessity
Special reports as requested by the Director and or Manager
Professional Status and Public Relations:
Maintains current professional knowledge of techniques and trends in the field of Physical Therapy.
Attends conventions, meetings, or special courses whenever possible and shares gained information with the department/facility personnel.
Prepares and presents educational presentations to community groups as requested.
Maintains positive public relations with all community sources.
TEAMWORK
Teamwork:
Willingly provides coverage, volunteers assistance, and maintains workflows within department as needed without direct instruction/supervision.
Works cooperatively and refrains from participating in negative conversations.
Shares knowledge and insights with co-workers in a constructive manner.
Works to solve problems and address conflicts with appropriate person directly before involving leadership or uninvolved peers.
Is considerate of others in the work environment with regard to taking breaks or meal periods, use of computer and phone, noise level in the department, etc.
POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
Policies and Procedures
Knows and complies with policies and procedures as enumerated in the Orthopedic One Employee Handbook and policies and procedures documents.
Provides assistance and support to leadership in implementing policies and procedures as necessary.
Actively participates in training, and conducting day to day work activity by adhering to all policies and procedures as enumerated in compliance and risk management programs.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Experience, Certification and Licensure Requirements:
Must be a graduate of an American Physical Therapy Association accredited school of Physical Therapy; current state licensure is required. Must maintain and provide verification card for CPR certification including BLS/AED training.
