What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Receptionist/Front Desk - Insurance Coordinator position at Orthopedic Center for Sports Medicine?
Multi-Physician medical practice needs an EXPERIENCED Medical Receptionist with a deep understanding of insurance protocols, who can take over the administrative duties involved with coordinating patient and physician schedules as well as bookkeeping, file management and office organization. We're looking for a professional who believes that patients should be treated as people rather than numbers in a file, and who understands the value of compassionate service. The job includes significant amounts of multi-tasking, but the ideal candidate will know when to slow down, look patients in the eye and provide personalized service. For the applicant to be successful, they must:
- Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits before scheduled appointments.
- Obtain pre-authorizations and referrals as required by insurance plans.
- Serve as the primary contact for patient insurance questions, explaining coverage and financial responsibility.
- Answer multi-line phones and either direct the caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller's needs yourself.
- Greet patients upon arrival, sign them in and obtain insurance information and any other necessary data.
- Provide patients with intake and new patient forms as well as copies of our office policies and legally required documents.
- Process payments from patients for co-pays and uninsured visits.
- Schedule appointments for new and recurring patients based on Physician and PA/NP availability.
- Provide patients with support and guidance as needed
- Protect patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA guidelines.
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish a plus
Required Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist, Front Desk Coordinator, or Insurance Coordinator, preferably with 2 years in a medical or healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance plans, authorization requirements, and medical terminology.
- Experience with EHR software and patient scheduling systems.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with [Specific EHR Software, e.g., Dentrix, Epic, Kareo].
- Billing and coding certification.
