Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Insurance Verification and Authorization Specialist to join our Therapy Clinic. This role is responsible for coordinating insurance verification, prior authorizations, and pre-certifications to support timely patient care and smooth departmental operations. The ideal candidate is highly organized, dependable, customer-focused, and experienced in healthcare insurance processes. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Responsibilities:
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for therapy and therapy DME services.
- Obtain prior authorizations and precertifications from insurance providers.
- Coordinate with therapists, physicians, and scheduling staff regarding patient authorization requirements.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation within electronic medical record (EMR/EHR) systems and other databases.
- Manage incoming phone calls, emails, and insurancerelated inquiries from patients, providers, and insurance carriers.
- Review and track authorization status to ensure continuity of patient care.
- Ensure communication with receptionist about collecting and documenting copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and any patient balances as needed.
- Communicate effectively with patients regarding insurance coverage, authorizations, and financial responsibilities.
- Work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff to resolve insurance or scheduling issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and company policies regarding patient information and documentation.

Education and Experience:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in insurance verification, authorizations, medical scheduling, or related healthcare administrative work.
- Working knowledge of medical insurance plans, authorization procedures, and healthcare terminology.
- Strong computer and data entry skills.
Preferred
- Experience in a therapy, rehabilitation, or outpatient healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR/EMR) systems.
- Knowledge of insurance billing processes and patient financial responsibilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.

This is an in-person position in Thibodaux, LA. This is a full-time, non-exempt position working Monday-Friday.
