JOB TITLE: Physical Therapy Tech
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for assisting Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants with patient care to include therapeutic exercise performance and other non-skilled services. Responsible for performing clinic maintenance to include cleaning and maintaining patient care and storage areas. Other duties may include inventory, answering phones and assisting customers, scheduling, and any other activity assigned by clinic staff.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the PT Clinic Director/Manager, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None
HOURS: Varies from 6:45 am- 3:30pm or 7:45am- 4:30 pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assisting therapist and patients with exercise routine
- Setting patients up on modalities
- Cleaning rooms/ wiping down tables and changing linens
- Washing, drying, and folding laundry
- Answer multi-line phones and taking messages when needed
- Printing out daily schedules
- Opening and closing the office.
The job holder must demonstrate competencies applicable to the job position.
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not necessary in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Sports Management,
EXPERIENCE: Previous Tech experience preferred
KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of anatomy.
- Knowledge of therapeutic exercise.
- Knowledge of clinical policies and procedures related to patient HIPAA regulations.
- Nextgen experience preferred.
SKILLS:
- Skills in time management.
- Skills in teaching proper exercise form.
- Skills in motivating and encouraging patients to complete exercises.
- Strong communication skills required
- Skills in answering the telephone in a pleasant and helpful manner and using a multi-line telephone system.
ABILITIES:
- Ability to multitask.
- Demonstrates flexibility and ability to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work cooperatively with other members of the PT team as well as other members of the OSC staff.
- Ability to respond to stressful/emergency situations in a calm and effective manner.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instructions.
ENVIRONMENTAL/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in a gym environment. Involves frequent contact with patients, and working simultaneously with multiple patients. Work may be stressful at times. Interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Minimal exposure to communicable diseases.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Must be able to stand up to 8 hours/day. Must be able to handle multiple tasks such as working with multiple patients and communicating efficiently with therapist and co-workers. Work may require some lifting and assisting patients on and off equipment.
