General Summary: The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while delivering excellent patient care.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Room patients
  • Assist with examinations and routine procedures, including minor surgery.
  • Remove staples/sutures
  • Complete Meaningful Use
  • Answer patient phone calls
  • Prepare Injections
  • Obtain authorization for treatment requests for HMO, WC, and PPO
  • Obtain patient estimates and communicate insurance coverage information to patients.
  • Responsible for obtaining necessary waivers related to treatment and/or supplies.
  • Communicate with your Physician and team
  • Stock/clean exam rooms
  • Prepare for clinic
  • Autoclave

  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Follow the chain of commands.
  • Prioritize tasks by level of importance to meet deadlines.
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner.

Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science and/or certification in Athletic Training preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required
  • Experience in an Orthopaedic Practice preferred.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

  • Medical Assistants should have a good working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.
  • Knowledge of first aid and CPR
  • Knowledge of safety and sanitation
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations set by state, federal, and local law.
  • Understanding of EPM/EHR system.

Skills:

  • Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion, and decision-making.
  • Skill in analyzing, planning, organization, and prioritization.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective internal and external working relationships.
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.

Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret medical documents.
  • Ability to set priorities among multiple requests.
  • Ability to interact easily and effectively with others.
  • Ability to share expertise and knowledge with staff to maintain and improve workflow.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from patients and/or co-workers.
