What are the responsibilities and job description for the Circulating Nurse - PRN position at Orthopaedic Associates?
Orthopaedic Associates is seeking multiple highly skilled and motivated Circulating Nurses to join our team working in a high volume, orthopaedic only, ambulatory surgery center. The ideal candidate will be ACLS certified and have previous orthopaedic and/or surgical experience. This is an outpatient-only facility, so hours would be Monday - Friday day shift. This is a PRN position, which would require working at least one (8) hour shift every 4 months.
Under the general supervision of the Surgery Center Administrator and providers, the Surgery Center Circulating Nurse will work in the operating room, managing patient care throughout surgery and coordinating activities outside the sterile field, ensuing a safe and efficient surgical environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Coordinate communication between the surgical team, including the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other staff, to ensure a smooth and coordinated procedure.
- Assist in preparing the patient for surgery, including proper positioning, draping and ensuring the surgical site is properly scrubbed and prepared.
- Document all relevant information about the surgical procedure, including patient status, medications, and any complications that may arise.
- Responsible for managing the OR environment, coordinating the surgical team, and ensuring all necessary resources, such as supplies and equipment, are readily available.
- Adhere to all policies and procedure of the surgery center
- Maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with company policies and procedures
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Associates or bachelor’s degree from accredited college/university and current unrestricted Indiana Registered Nurse license required. CPR and ACLS certification required.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgery center or outpatient setting, OR experience preferred
- Strong prioritization and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrate clinical competence and knowledge of disease processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail to ensure patient safety and smooth flow of surgical procedure
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment
- Must have the ability to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.
