What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patient Account Specialist/Collections position at Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center?
Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Center is seeking a self starting, accountable, and dependable individual to join our business office. OSC is multi-specialty with Orthopaedic, Podiatry, and MRI billing all in-house. This is a nonexempt position primarily responsible for accounts receivable, collections, and providing customer service to our patients. Job functions include:
1. Responsible for answering patient questions regarding benefit coverages and balances.
2. Maintains professionalism while answering multiline phone system when working with patients, insurance carriers, and all other customers.
3. Responsible for notifying patients and collection of co-pay/deductibles and/or payment arrangements in an accordance with our accounting collection policy as assigned by supervisor and taking payments over the phone.
4. Responsible for accurately processing requests for patient refunds.
5. Responsible for printing out daily appointment schedules for satellite clinics to verify patient balances and making payment arrangements.
6. Maintains work area in a neat and orderly manner.
7. Provide back-up assistance to other business office functions as needed.
8. Communicates pertinent information to supervisor or other employees as needed.
9. Ensures compliance with HIPAA, patient privacy and all other applicable regulations and laws while interacting with patients and staff.
10. Perform such other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational objectives.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $16.00 per hour
