Description
Summary:
Reports directly to the Radiology Manager and responsible for taking diagnostic orthopedic x-rays per established provider protocols, critiquing image quality, rotating clerical duties and related tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare patients for radiologic procedures. Take x-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety.
- Use a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials in the appropriated anatomy.
- Understand doctors’ orders and requests from other clinical staff.
- Ensure equipment is in working order. Report equipment malfunctions to Team Lead or Xray Supervisor.
- Know each doctor’s protocol including each individual doctor’s ball marker protocol. Report change or update protocol to xray supervisor.
- Understand and properly operate the Computer or Digital Radiologic equipment and control panel.
- Properly handle the analog x-ray equipment utilizing proper techniques.
- Printing images, making cd’s and Operating PACS System.
- Answer phone calls for imaging requests, and other requests as needed
- Open and close x-ray department.
- Open to other duties as assigned and also working with students
- Traveling from office to office
- Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines
- Compliance with patient confidentiality (HIPAA) and Red Flag Rules
- Typical Physical Demands: Requires varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, stooping, lifting, bending, and reaching. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Requires full range of motion in all extremities, neck and back, manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination, standing 6-9 hours/day. Requires ability to move equipment and transfer patients. Occasional stress in working with tense patients, handicap patients, immovable patients in a fast-paced clinic.
- Work Environment: Well-lit and ventilated, with non-hazardous and hazardous equipment. Exposure to radiation, communicable diseases, and other conditions common to a radiology setting
- Work Hours: Must have a flexible work schedule with the ability to work early/late as needed

Qualifications
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Education and experience: Graduate of accredited radiologic technologist program with current Medical Radiologic Technologist or Limited Medical Radiologic Technologist license. Current CPR license. Previous Orthopedic radiology experience preferred.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws and requirements relating to compliance of HIPAA, OSHA, billing compliance.
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients, hospitals, other physician offices, and general public
- A change agent and capable of guiding the organization in initiating various change management initiatives with the view of leading and guiding the organization towards the future.
- Superior judgment, negotiation and decision-making skills.
