Basic Responsibility
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for providing support services to ensure efficient operation in the offices and clinical environment. You will support doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care management, organization and communication.
Specific Responsibilities
The specific responsibilities of the Medical Assistant encompass but are not limited to the following:
- Interviewing patients and document basic medical history
- Organizing and scheduling appointments
- Updating and filing medical records and insurance reports
- Schedule and pre-cert surgical procedures and laboratory services
- Assist during medical examinations
- Scan and index medical documents into patient charts
- Prepare and clean treatment rooms
- Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with patients, coworkers, doctors, managers, hospital staff and other individuals that you interact with at Fondren Orthopedic
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Associate degree or higher preferred
• Medical office experience preferred

Physical Demands
Physical Demands: Tasks and expectations may vary by team. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner.
Work Environment
Well-lighted, heated and/or air-conditioned indoor clinic office setting with adequate ventilation; Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic) Typical schedule is Monday through Friday with regular working hours; Occasional overtime may be required.
Skills Required:
- Proven working experience as a medical assistant
- Knowledge of electronic medical records software and procedures
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and patient management software
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA requirements
- Physical Requirement: Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Minimum education and work experience requirement
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assisting program with current CMA certification from AAMA, AMT or NCCT.
- Ten or more years of Medical Assistant experience
