What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Technologist position at OrthoGeorgia?
Surgical technicians assist surgeons and other medical professionals in operating rooms and similar environments. Chiefly, they prepare patients, rooms and equipment for pending surgical procedures. They also assist during those procedures as part of a team of operating room professionals.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies, selects and coordinates equipment and supplies required for scheduled procedure with circulating nurse.
- Prepares work areas by draping, preparing and testing equipment and organizing instrumentation.
- Performs surgical assistant duties; assists physicians. Follows and updates physician preference cards.
- Cares for surgical equipment and instruments and manages supplies.
- May also act as sterile processing technician.
Required Experience And Education
- Graduate from recognized surgical technology program (preferred) or at least two years previous experience in surgery
- Prior on the job scrub experience of at least two years
- CPR certified
