NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative, cutting-edge social and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education, retreats, and summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.

A JSU Club is a school-based Jewish student group run by NCSY’s Jewish Student Union (JSU), providing Jewish teens in public and non-Jewish private high schools with meaningful opportunities to connect, learn, and build community. Through engaging discussions, social activities, leadership development, and Jewish experiences, JSU clubs foster identity, belonging, and pride in a warm and inclusive environment

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

Position Summary:

The JSU Program Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the execution and growth of specific JSU and NCSY programs, enhancing both the quality of the programs and the number of students they reach. They will be accountable for key metrics related to teen engagement and meaningful impact.

This position is ideal for a mission-driven professional who is deeply passionate about inspiring the next generation of Jewish leaders and strengthening public school teens’ connection to their Jewish identity. The ideal candidate is energized by relationship-building and thrives at creating dynamic, growth-oriented, and impactful educational experiences that empower teens to engage meaningfully in Jewish life.

This role is ideally full-time; however, a part-time opportunity may be available for the right candidate and is based in Miami and Broward County.

Responsibilities:

Program Coordination

  • Run weekly/Bi-weekly JSU clubs
  • Prepare weekly activities for the JSU clubs
  • Coordinate and oversee club logistics, such as food, supplies, and materials, to ensure smooth and successful program execution.
  • Run weekly/biweekly JSU board meetings to plan curriculum and strategy for clubs
  • Cultivates meaningful relationships with JSU students through regular communication, including texts, phone calls, and meetups.
  • Partner with the city manager to create a strategic plan alongside JSU students and school administrators, focused on identifying and expanding impactful programming and opportunities within the school beyond the JSU club.
  • Designs and implements engaging programs for JSU board and club members outside of school, in coordination with the manager (e.g., Shabbos meals, challah bakes, dinners).
  • Attend the chapter’s two weekly learning programs
  • Developed educational materials and program content in collaboration with the City Director to support the successful operation of two weekly programs.
  • Recruit for chapter and regional events
  • Serve as support for teens and their advisors who participate in the programs

Metrics

  • Monitor and update participation data by school and review progress toward goals with the manager biweekly.
  • Record and maintain average weekly attendance for each club in Iceberg, ensuring attendance is entered accurately by the end of the week.
  • Track and document the number of teens who transition from JSU clubs into: weekly learning programs, social and holiday events, Shabbat meals, and Shabbatons.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of all transition data and proactively flag trends (growth, drop-off, or inconsistencies) with the manager.
  • Use collected data to inform goal-setting discussions with the manager and identify opportunities to improve teen engagement and retention.

Program Attendance

  • Attend three Regional Shabbatons
  • Attend up to 15 non-overnight events as decided by the manager.
  • Administration and Training as expected by the OU
  • Attend the annual staff conference in NY
  • Attend bi-annual infrastructure meetings
  • Attend Regional team meetings when needed
  • Meet weekly with your direct manager
  • Attend biweekly team meetings
  • Record all data for every event, chavrusa, and Shabbat meal in Iceburg weekly, no later than the end of the week
  • Liaise with and assist the marketing department as needed

Qualifications:

  • Experience in teen programming and/or Jewish education (formal or informal)
  • A track record of being charismatic, organized, and flexible
  • Ability to build trust and connect with both teens
  • A solid foundation in Jewish knowledge, including Halacha, Jewish thought, and tradition

Salary & Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $50,000 (Full-Time), commensurate with experience.
