Orthodox Union
York, NY Full Time
POSTED ON 12/20/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 1/20/2026
Who We Are:

NCSY, a program of the Orthodox Union, connects with Jewish teens through innovative, cutting-edge social and recreational programs to develop a positive Jewish identity. NCSY inspires Jewish teens through informal Jewish education, retreats, and summer programs. NCSY empowers teens through leadership development and guidance to become passionately committed leaders of the Jewish community and instruments for positive change and renewal.

The Orthodox Union (OU) is one of the largest Orthodox Jewish organizations in the United States. Founded in 1898, the OU supports a network of synagogues, youth programs, Jewish and Religious Zionist advocacy programs, programs for the disabled, localized religious study programs, and international units. The OU maintains a kosher certification service, whose circled U symbol, Ⓤ, is found on the labels of many kosher commercial and consumer food products.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a mission-driven and results-oriented Fundraiser based in New York or New Jersey to support and expand NCSY’s philanthropic reach across key initiatives, including Tristate Regional Programs, JSU Clubs in public and private schools, 4G (Girls Growth Groups), and NCSY Summer Programs. This individual will be responsible for identifying and cultivating new prospects, stewarding donors, managing campaigns, and building strong relationships with lay leaders, community stakeholders, and institutional funders.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Donor Cultivation

  • Identify, engage, and solicit new individual donors
  • Maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects and existing donors
  • Conduct donor meetings and follow-up communications with professionalism and warmth
  • Collaborate with local and national staff to design compelling cases for support

Campaign Management

  • Lead or support fundraising campaigns for 4G, JSU, and summer scholarships
  • Collaborate with NCSY marketing to develop campaign materials and branding
  • Manage donor database updates and track activity through the OU CRM

Community Engagement

  • Partner with local synagogues, schools, federations, and community leaders to raise awareness and support
  • Attend key events and serve as a visible ambassador for NCSY and its programs

Reporting & Planning

  • Set and meet annual fundraising goals
  • Provide regular reports on progress, donor activity, and campaign results
  • Participate in regional and national development strategy sessions

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, or nonprofit development
  • Proven success in securing gifts of $5,000 preferred
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Familiarity with the New York Jewish communal landscape
  • Comfort with CRM/database systems
  • Passion for Jewish education, youth development, and NCSY’s mission
  • Ability to work evenings/weekends as required

Salary and Benefits:

The salary for this position is between $85,000-$100,000, commensurate with experience.

Health, Dental & Vision Insurance:

The OU offers health insurance through an Individual Coverage Health Reimbursement Arrangement (ICHRA). Instead of a single group plan, employees have the freedom to choose their own health insurance plan that fits their personal and family needs. The OU contributes a generous monthly amount directly toward your premium, making coverage more flexible, affordable, and tailored to you.

Employees enrolled in our health plan also receive an annual BeniComp stipend, a supplemental benefit that reimburses eligible medical, pharmaceutical, dental, and vision expenses.

In addition, the OU offers employees group dental and vision insurance through MetLife.

Additional Benefits and Perks:

  • 10 Paid sick days
  • 10-15 Paid vacation days
  • Paid Jewish and Federal holidays
  • Short Fridays to accommodate for Sabbath observance
  • Free life and disability insurance
  • Discounted continuing education opportunities
  • 403(b) retirement plan with a 5% employer match after 3 years (requires a minimum 2% employee contribution)
