We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant (Licensed Dental Assistant) to join our dynamic dental team that travels between 3 locations. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care and support during orthodontic procedures. This position requires proficiency in various dental assisting techniques, strong communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for our patients and team members.
Duties
- Assist with orthodontic procedures by preparing instruments and materials.
- Perform chairside assisting, ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout treatments.
- Take radiographs and scans for orthodontic images as needed, adhering to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate documentation and update patient records according to record keeping requirements.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
- Manage sterilization of instruments and maintain infection control standards.
- Collaborate with the administrative team to schedule appointments and manage patient flow.
- Stay informed about dental terminology, HIPAA, OSHA and infection control techniques relevant to orthodontics.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an orthodontic or pediatric dentistry setting is preferred, although new grads are definitely considered.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality is essential.
- Proficiency in clinical documentation, records management, and orthodontic coding is beneficial.
- Understanding of general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric care is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining focus on patient care.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain treatment plans clearly to patients and their families.
