The Billing Manager / Revenue Cycle Manager will oversee all aspects of billing, collections, and revenue cycle performance. This role requires a mix of hands-on management, team leadership, and data-driven decision-making.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead, train, and mentor the billing team while developing SOPs for billing and collections.
- Manage and analyze daily billing operations to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee insurance verification, prior authorizations, coordination of benefits, and appeals.
- Ensure correct billing using CDT codes, modifiers, and orthodontic-specific protocols.
- Oversee claims submission, denial management, payment posting, refunds, and patient billing.
- Prepare and deliver accurate month-end financial and collection reports.
- Monitor AR aging reports and implement strategies to reduce outstanding balances.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA, payer requirements, and federal/state overpayment rules.
- Balance empathy with firmness in escalated patient financial discussions.
- Utilize practice management systems (e.g., Ortho2), clearinghouses, and reporting dashboards.
- Track and analyze KPIs such as:
- Days in AR
- Clean Claim Rate
- Collection of Net Production
- Bad Debt
- Manage provider credentialing and re-credentialing with insurance companies, Medicaid, and other payers, including applications, updates, and renewals.
- Collaborate with insurance representatives, patients, and internal teams in a professional and solutions-focused manner.
- 3–5 years of billing experience in dental or orthodontics.
- Minimum 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of Medicaid (IL, IN, WI), Medicare, and commercial insurance.
- Experience managing revenue cycle in a multi-location practice.
- Skilled in practice management software, clearinghouses, and reporting tools.
- Proven track record of improving collections and reducing AR.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
