Role Description This on-site contract Physician Assistant role is based in the Springfield, Massachusetts Metropolitan Area. The Physician Assistant will provide direct patient care in orthopedic settings, including conducting comprehensive histories and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and assisting in the development of treatment plans. Daily responsibilities include supporting orthopedic procedures, providing pre- and post-operative care, performing joint injections or other minor procedures as appropriate, and educating patients on diagnoses, treatments, and rehabilitation plans. The role involves close collaboration with orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, and other clinical team members, as well as accurate documentation in the electronic health record and participation in quality and safety initiatives.
Qualifications
- Active Physician Assistant license in Massachusetts and current NCCPA certification.
- Clinical experience in orthopedics, sports medicine, or musculoskeletal care, including evaluation and management of common orthopedic conditions.
- Competence in performing focused physical exams, ordering and interpreting imaging and laboratory studies, and assisting with in-office procedures.
- Strong patient communication skills, including the ability to explain diagnoses, treatment options, and post-treatment care in clear, accessible language.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and adapt to a fast-paced clinical environment.
- Proficiency with electronic health record systems and accurate, timely documentation.
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program; advanced training or prior contract experience in orthopedic practices is preferred.
