The Orrick School District is seeking applicants for the position of paraprofessional for the 20230-2024 school year. Positions at both the high school and elementary levels are available.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 60 college hours or High School Diploma with a passing score on the ParaPro or Missouri Educator Gateway Paraprofessional Assessment.
  • Interpersonal, communication,  and organizational skills
  • Perform basic computer functions
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Interest in children and education

Reports to: Process Coordinator, SPED Teacher(s), & Building Principal

Position Summary: To assist, support, and work closely with teacher, administrators, and other team members in providing educational benefits for students.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  1. Maintain the confidentiality of schools, teachers, students, and classrooms.
  2. Promote a positive image of the district within the community.
  3. Comply with all school policies.
  4. Establish and maintain professional relationships with students, parents, and co-workers.
  5. Motivate, engage, and encourage students.
  6. Initiate communication with certified staff on anything that would further student learning or contribute to student safety.
  7. Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy.
  8. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by certified staff.
  9. Assist certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
  10. Implementation of IEP accommodations including, but not limited to: scribing, reading tests, coping skills, and time management.
  11. Implementation of Behavior Plans.
  12. Appropriately explaining rules, procedures, and routines to students.
  13. Perform clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional and non-instructional duties as assigned by certified staff.
  14. Participate in in-service trainings as approved.
  15. Participate in IEP meetings, as requested.
  16. Maintain a safe working environment.
  17. Follow and reinforce classroom procedures.

  • Others, as directed


Evaluated by:
Process Coordinator, in conjunction with Building Principal and in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy and the District’s model of evaluation.
Terms of Employment:
Hourly wage for the period of the designated school year. Hourly wage, benefits, and leave time as defined in Board Policy. Must be a U.S. citizen and have passed all background checks conducted by the District.
Working Environment:
Work is typically performed in and around a student learning environment and as such may be exposed to childhood diseases. May be required to balance and crouch, crawl, bend, or kneel. May be required to stand or sit for prolonged periods. Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions may occur. Workplace is usually moderately quiet but can be noisy at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear.  Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job.
