Job Title: Paraeducator – Specialized Support
Job Summary:
Under the supervision of a certificated administrator and with guidance from the District Nurse or medical staff, the Paraeducator provides instructional and physical support to students with exceptional needs. This includes assisting with classroom instruction and performing specialized health-related tasks for students who require additional care. Key Responsibilities:
Pre-employment physical, drug screening, and fingerprint clearance required.
Under the supervision of a certificated administrator and with guidance from the District Nurse or medical staff, the Paraeducator provides instructional and physical support to students with exceptional needs. This includes assisting with classroom instruction and performing specialized health-related tasks for students who require additional care. Key Responsibilities:
- Support students in small groups or one-on-one with classwork and activities
- Supervise students in the classroom, on field trips, and during other school activities
- Assist with personal care needs such as feeding, hygiene, dressing, and mobility
- Provide medical assistance as trained (e.g., administering medications, gastrostomy feeding, suctioning, nebulizer treatments)
- Collaborate with teachers and health staff to ensure student safety and well-being
- Maintain confidentiality and follow safety procedures at all times
- High school diploma or GED
- Prior experience working with youth preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification preferred
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and assist with physical tasks
- Ability to move frequently, including standing, kneeling, and reaching
