Job Summary
The Instructional Para-Educator – Specialized Healthcare supports classroom teachers in delivering instruction while assisting in the implementation of lessons and daily classroom activities. Under the direction of certificated staff and in collaboration with the District Nurse or medical personnel, the Para-Educator works with individual students and small groups to reinforce academic concepts and support student engagement. This position provides direct support to students with exceptional needs, including those who may be academically, physically, or developmentally challenged. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care, mobility, and health-related services such as feeding, toileting, hygiene, and other specialized medical procedures as trained. The Para-Educator also supports classroom management, monitors student behavior and safety, assists with instructional materials, and helps maintain a structured and inclusive learning environment. This role requires patience, flexibility, and the ability to make responsible decisions to ensure student well-being while maintaining confidentiality and working collaboratively with staff, students, and families.
Requirements / Qualifications
Requirements: Completed Edjoin application, HS diploma or GED; AA degree or higher or 48 units of higher education or passed a local exam that demonstrates knowledge of and ability to assist in reading, writing and math. Copies of HS diploma, GED, degree and/or certificate must be submitted with application. Incomplete applications will NOT be accepted.
