Bachelor's Degree or advanced degree from an accredited institution with a major in Foods and Nutrition including completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship with eligibility to take the Registered Dietitian examination with the Commission on Dietetics Registration / Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Exam must be passed within 6 months of completion of the dietetic internship
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
- ·Experience in clinical nutrition in an acute care or long term care facility preferred

Qualifications:

Responsibilities:
Job Summary
The Chief Clinical Dietitian functions as the Supervisor to the Clinical Nutrition Staff, coordinating inpatient clinical nutrition services and supervising the Outpatient Dietitian / Nutrition Educator. Maintains open communication between the medical and nursing staff and all ancillary services related to medical nutrition therapy issues.
Duties
- Supervises the in-patient clinical nutrition staff and outpatient dietitian / nutrition educator
- Oversees and participates in the coordination of in-patient nutrition assessments involving all aspects of medical nutrition therapy and interventions
- Develops and implements policies and procedures, standards of practice and processes to guide and support the Clinical Nutrition Staff and the Dietary Department
- Coordinates and integrates with other hospital departments and medical services to provide the best possible patient nutrition care
- Assists with the selection of staff, which is competent in job-related knowledge and skills
- Evaluates performance and competence of the clinical nutrition staff and outpatient dietitian on an on-going basis, ensuring that the staff is competent to provide medical nutrition services as governed by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Standards of Practices
- Provides orientation, in-service and continuing education, as needed, to maintain qualified and competent staff
- Performs studies and evaluation of the quality and appropriateness of medical nutrition therapy services in accordance with the policies and procedures of the hospital
- Schedules the Clinical Nutrition Staff in order to assure medical nutrition therapy processes are being met in a timely manner
- Is knowledgeable regarding the duties of the Clinical Dietitian, Outpatient Dietitian and Diet Aide with the ability to perform all functions as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
