Position Summary

The HR Specialist is a vital contributor to the Health Bridge team, supporting the full spectrum of human resources functions across our growing, multi-site organization. This role goes beyond transactional HR — it is a culture steward position, helping to ensure that every teammate, from our corporate office to our partner clinic sites, experiences the values of Collaborative Excellence, Unbending Integrity, and Patient-Centered Care in how they are hired, onboarded, supported, and developed. The ideal candidate is a people-first HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment, communicates with warmth and professionalism, and is comfortable operating fluidly across in-office, remote, and multi-site virtual settings alongside a distributed team.

This is a primarily onsite position based in Glendale, CA, with a 1–2 remote day allowance per week based on business needs and role responsibilities. Periodic travel within California may also be required to support site-level HR needs.

Key Responsibilities

Culture & Employee Experience:

  • Serve as a champion of Health Bridge's mission, vision, and values in every HR touchpoint — from recruiting through offboarding
  • Support internal culture-building initiatives, including employee recognition programs, onboarding experiences, and engagement efforts aligned with our Virtuous Cycle model
  • Partner with leadership to reinforce a workplace culture defined by inclusion, accountability, and purpose-driven work
  • Help communicate and model company values with consistency across all teammate interactions, whether in person or virtually

Employee Relations & HR Support

  • Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, leave, and workplace concerns
  • Support managers with performance management processes, documentation, and corrective action procedures
  • Escalate complex employee relations matters to HR leadership as appropriate

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Collaborate closely with a dedicated Recruiting Assistant to support full-cycle recruiting activities including job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and offer letter processing
  • Provide strategic oversight and HR expertise to the recruiting function, ensuring hiring practices remain compliant, values-aligned, and candidate-focused
  • Facilitate new hire onboarding with a strong emphasis on cultural integration, values alignment, and connection to the company's mission from day one
  • Maintain and update job descriptions in alignment with evolving organizational needs

Compliance & Recordkeeping

  • Ensure HR practices comply with applicable federal and California state employment laws, including FEHA, CFRA, PDL, and FLSA
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in Rippling or other HRIS platforms
  • Support audits, reporting requirements, and HR policy updates as directed

Leave Administration

  • Administer employee leave requests including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, and other applicable leaves
  • Track leave usage, communicate with employees and managers, and ensure proper documentation throughout the leave lifecycle

Benefits & Payroll Support

  • Assist employees with benefits enrollment questions and coordinate with benefits vendors as needed

Support semi-monthly payroll processing by providing accurate and timely HR data updates

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2–3 years of HR generalist or specialist experience
  • Working knowledge of California employment law and HR compliance requirements
  • Strong technology proficiency, including HRIS platforms (Rippling experience a plus), Microsoft Office, and video conferencing tools such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams — essential for supporting a distributed, hybrid workforce
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively in a primarily onsite, hybrid work environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to connect authentically with teammates at all levels, in person and virtually
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment, including with support staff and cross-functional partners
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to travel within California as needed

Preferred

  • Experience in a healthcare, FQHC, or multi-site organization
  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification

  • Experience supporting remote or hybrid teams across multiple locations
