✅ Hustle & Grit: We aim to solve massive challenges: housing access, the wealth gap, employee engagement, productivity and retention. This is important and tough work.
✅ Well-being: Self-care is non-negotiable. We support each other and a culture that respects personal commitments.
✅ A Little Rebellious: We challenge norms, go against the grain, and get things done.
The Role
We are seeking a Homeownership Content Editor & Strategist to lead the development, editing, and quality assurance of all housing-related content across the Oro platform. This role is ideal for a real-estate-savvy storyteller who can translate complex housing topics into clear, engaging, and actionable guidance for everyday employees navigating major housing decisions.
Initially part-time with a path to full-time, this role will shape our content strategy, refine our editorial standards, and ensure that every article, guide, and concierge response reflects the high bar of accuracy, accessibility, and helpfulness that defines the Oro experience.
- Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy aligned with Oro’s mission and member needs.
- Identify high-value, high-impact content opportunities across the housing and homeownership lifecycle (renting, buying, selling, financing, affordability, home maintenance, etc.).
- Create editorial calendars and prioritize topics informed by user data, market trends, and employer partner feedback.
- Author positive, inspiring, and human-centered housing stories to motivate and empower employees to pursue and reach their housing goals.
- Serve as lead editor for articles, guides, and educational resources produced by other team members.
- Elevate clarity, structure, accuracy, and user-centered helpfulness in all content.
- Ensure content meets Oro’s standards for tone, empathy, accessibility, and actionable insights.
- Provide constructive feedback, training, and coaching to internal and freelance writers.
- Oversee the quality, completeness, and usefulness of all responses delivered through Oro’s housing concierge service.
- Establish editorial guidelines and QA processes for written responses to employee questions.
- Ensure responses are accurate, concise, and tailored to the user’s context, while maintaining compliance with relevant laws (e.g., no personalized legal or financial advice).
- Partner with product, operations, and customer success teams to identify content gaps and opportunities.
- Work with leadership to define and measure content performance, user satisfaction, and impact on member outcomes.
- Support employer partner communications and marketing content as needed.
- 3–7 years of experience in residential real estate content, housing journalism, mortgage/finance content, or related fields.
- Strong editorial and writing skills with a track record of translating complex housing topics into clear, consumer-friendly guidance.
- Understanding of U.S. residential housing markets, renting and homebuying processes, mortgage basics, affordability, and related topics.
- Experience editing and coaching other writers.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Comfort working in a startup environment with evolving needs and priorities.
- Prior experience with consumer education, fintech, proptech, or HR/employee benefits content.
- Experience developing content strategy or managing editorial calendars.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices for educational content.
- Experience with help-desk or concierge-style Q&A systems.
Based in or near Los Angeles, CA.
Hybrid role: mix of remote work and periodic in-person collaboration with the team.
Starts part-time with a planned transition to full-time as the function grows.
Competitive hourly rate or part-time salary, with transition to full-time compensation and benefits. Equity opportunities may be available for the right candidate.
