Job Summary:

Sr. Business Analyst

The position is primarily focused on leading requirement gathering sessions and developing system documentation for projects in the Market Settlements area.  The Market Settlements teams support the systems responsible for calculating and reporting financial settlements related to PJM''''s Wholesale Electric Markets and Transmission Services, representing over $50B annually. 

The Senior Market Settlement Business Analyst must be detail-oriented and skilled in eliciting, analyzing, and documenting comprehensive and complex business requirements, process flows and application dependencies.  In addition, the candidate will assist with documentation of as-is business processes including but not limited to deskside procedures and general departmental guides.  The individual must have a strong desire to explore complex technical and functional challenges and draw satisfaction from problem solving and solving logic puzzles. This person can ask the right questions of SMEs to elicit the system needs, document clearly, and work in an environment with ever-changing priorities.  Specific responsibilities will include but, not be limited to, requirements elicitation, documenting requirements, and creating process flow and written documentation. The role will include working with the business and Quality Assurance testing teams to ensure that the business analysis documentation is correct, complete and detailed.

Document, review and update business process requirements based on client’s feedback

Ensure appropriate levels of controls are applied to work efforts, including security requirements, effective business solutions

Establish, monitor and maintain high client satisfaction levels

Document and track problems in client business systems or processes to provide recommendations for future efficiencies

Responsibilities

Business Analysis & System Enhancements

• Elicit, document, and manage business requirements for settlement system changes, market rule implementations, and new market products
• Translate tariff language and market design concepts into clear functional requirements and settlement logic

Analyze, review, and document current structure and use cases of the application or process; Analyze and document current application dependencies

Track required tasks through completion

Ability to develop/update existing materials and support the team in understanding of requirements or training materials as needed

Develop process flows, use cases, data mappings, and settlement logic documentation

Work with Quality Assurance testing team to ensure understanding of requirements and adequate test plans are developed and executed.

Skills and Experience

Someone who is detail oriented, extremely positive, and passionate about business analysis work

Experience in developing business analysis deliverables like requirements documents, As-Is and To-Be process diagrams, use cases, traceability matrices, data dictionaries, business rules, meeting notes, etc.

Strong experience with SQL, relational databases, and data analysis tools

Ability to lead assigned tasks to completion

Strong active listening skills with an ability to understand current processes and needs;

Strong communication skills in working with a team and providing in time updates to project manager.

Experience using Visio or equivalent process mapping solutions

Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision; Can manage workload and priorities

Someone who has worked on projects in cross-functional teams including with business and technical staffs  in a matrixed environment

Skilled at documentation best practices such as using revision history/version control/requirement unique identifier

Willing to learn new things and share knowledge to others; Proactive; Resourceful

B.S. degree in computer science, management information systems, Business Administration, or equivalent experience

Preferred Skills and Experience

Strong SQL skills or experience with data analysis tools

Analytical abilities to compile, structure, examine and present substantial data sets with precision

Experience using JIRA and Confluence

Experience with energy markets (ISO/RTOs such as PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE, ERCOT, CAISO) or financial trading/clearing environments

Experience with settlement systems, or billing systems

CBAP, CCBA, IIBA or similar business analysis certification
