What are the responsibilities and job description for the School Nurse Substitutes position at Orleans Southwest?
Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union is seeking substitute School Nurses for the 2025-2026 school year. Remuneration for Nursing Substitutes is higher than that of other per diem substitute work. The Orleans Southwest Supervisory Union pays substitute RNs $255 per full day (8 hours) and $200 per full day for LPNs.
The ideal candidates will have the following qualifications: • Current, valid Vermont RN license • CPR and First Aid certified • Several years of clinical experience that includes pediatric and community/family-centered nursing Areas of student health care responsibilities include: • Assessment • First aid • Health screening • Medication administration • Assist in communicable disease control • Immunization assessment • Attend student meetings as necessary • Assessment and care of students with special needs Additional areas of responsibilities include: • Compilation of statistical information • Maintenance of health and medication records/logs • Accident reporting • Member of the Wellness and Safety Teams • Student/staff emergency card maintenance • Preparation of required state reports • Providing staff and parents with information on school health policies, and other pertinent health resource information • Providing interpretation of health information to staff and parents • Promoting a healthy school environment
