ABOUT THE ORLEANS PARISH DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (OPDA)
Under the leadership of District Attorney Jason Rogers Williams, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office (OPDA) represents the State of Louisiana in criminal matters before courts with jurisdiction in Orleans Parish. It is the mission of OPDA to increase public safety through the ethical, consistent, and zealous enforcement of the law.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assistant District Attorneys (ADAs) represent the State of Louisiana in criminal matters before courts with jurisdiction in Orleans Parish. The Deputy Chief assists the division chief in overseeing the daily operations of the division and its initiatives, including the ADAs and division support staff, in addition to other duties as needed/requested. This position is held by an attorney licensed to practice law in Louisiana, and reports to the division chief.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Member of the Louisiana Bar in good standing
- Comfort with technology, including proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to work flexible hours, including at times over 40 hours and weekends/holidays
- Ability to report in person for work, and dependability in attendance and work product
- Effective coach and mentor
- Public speaking ability and effective communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of Louisiana criminal law and procedure
- Extensive criminal trial/courtroom experience
- Demonstrated ability to balance a high volume of work with supervising others
- Ability to foster solid and sustainable working relationships with outside agencies
