Custodian

Full-Time CustodianOCSU is seeking a full-time Custodian to join our team. This position is a full-time (8 hours/day; 261 days/year) role serving both **Irasburg Village School** and **Glover Community School**. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with each school's Head Custodian to maintain school buildings and grounds to a high standard of **safety, cleanliness, and efficiency**.Salary and benefits are commensurate with experience. Qualifications* High school diploma or equivalent.* Knowledge of cleaning, sanitation, and recycling procedures.* General knowledge of building maintenance, including plumbing, electrical, heating, ventilation, and security systems.* Ability to safely operate custodial equipment and perform routine maintenance tasks.* Responsible, self-directed, dependable work habits with strong time management skills.* Positive interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, students, administrators, vendors, and community members.* Working knowledge of school policies and procedures, including confidentiality.* Physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, including lifting, bending, climbing, and working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.* Flexibility to respond to occasional building needs outside of the regular workday as necessary.Performance Responsibilities* Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of assigned school buildings and grounds.* Perform daily custodial duties, including cleaning classrooms, offices, hallways, restrooms, cafeterias, gyms, and common areas.* Assist the Head Custodians with routine maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative maintenance.* Support the operation of building systems and report maintenance concerns promptly.* Assist with seasonal responsibilities, including snow removal, sidewalk maintenance, and playground upkeep.* Set up and take down furniture and equipment for school events and activities.* Assist with deliveries, inventory, recycling, and proper storage of custodial supplies.* Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.* Work cooperatively with administration and school staff to support the daily operation of both schools.* Perform other related duties as assigned.For a pay scale please visit page 11 of the CBA - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1YF8rdE2D8VQW3jNLPLSMSE7Ft4t5OjWPnIxHkODdFV0/edit?tab=t.0The Orleans Central Supervisory Union is comprised of two school districts (Lake Region Union Elementary-Middle School and Lake Region Union High School) supporting three K-4 elementary schools, three 5-8 middle schools, the Orleans Central Early Childhood Program, and Lake Region Union High School.Orleans Central Supervisory Union is located in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom which is known for scenic and rugged area of hills, sugarbushes, farmland and lakes.
