Employment Type: Internship (Seasonal – September through May)

Position Summary 
The Social Media & Content Creation Intern will play a key role in shaping the Orlando Valkyries’ digital voice and growing the team’s online presence. Working closely with the Manager of Marketing & Sponsorship Fulfillment, this intern will develop and execute content across the team’s social media platforms, create short-form video and photo content, and engage with the Valkyries’ fan community. This position is ideal for a creative, platform-savvy student who wants hands-on experience in professional sports digital media. 

Key Responsibilities 
Content Creation & Social Media Management 
  • Assist in developing and scheduling daily content across Instagram, X (Twitter), Facebook, TikTok, and YouTube. 
  • Capture and edit photo and short-form video content at home matches, practices, and community events. 
  • Create engaging Reels, TikToks, Stories, and graphics that reflect the Valkyries’ brand voice. 
  • Draft captions, hashtags, and copy that are on-brand and audience-appropriate. 
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to fan comments and messages, and foster community engagement. 

Strategy & Analytics 
  • Assist in tracking and reporting on social media performance metrics including reach, engagement, and follower growth. 
  • Research emerging trends, platform updates, and competitor strategies to inform content recommendations. 
  • Contribute ideas for content series, campaigns, and viral moments that align with the team’s marketing goals. 
  • Help maintain a social media content calendar and ensure timely publishing. 

Game Day & Event Coverage 
  • Provide real-time social media coverage during home matches and special events. 
  • Assist with live-game content including player features, behind-the-scenes moments, and in-game highlights. 
  • Support photography and video capture for post-event content packages. 
  • Perform additional social media and content-related duties as assigned. 

Team Culture & Collaboration 
  • Contribute to a positive and energetic office environment. 
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to support team-wide initiatives. 
  • Demonstrate professionalism, enthusiasm, and a team-first attitude at all times. 

Qualifications
 
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, Journalism, or a related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts on Instagram, TikTok, X, or similar platforms. 
  • Proficiency in short-form video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, or similar). 
  • Strong understanding of social media trends, platform algorithms, and digital storytelling. 
  • Basic photography skills and comfort with a smartphone or DSLR camera. 
  • Excellent writing skills, with the ability to adapt tone and voice for different platforms and audiences. 
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Passion for sports, content creation, and fan engagement. 

Education & Experience
 
  • Currently working toward a degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or a related field. 
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or similar design tools is a plus. 
  • Prior experience managing brand or organizational social media accounts is preferred.
