Orlando Science Charter School K-8 is seeking a passionate and organized School Clinic Aide/Front Desk Receptionist to join our dedicated team. You will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the school clinic. This role involves handling front desk duties, assisting with student health needs, maintaining medical records, and supporting the overall operations of the school.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Student Health Support:
· Administer medications to students as prescribed by their physicians, following all school policies and procedures.
· Ensure accurate documentation of medication administration.
· Check student temperatures and monitor for signs of illness.
· Administer first aid as needed, including cleaning wounds, applying bandages, and controlling bleeding.
· Assist with student check-ins and check-outs for medical appointments or illnesses.
· Maintain a clean and sanitary clinic environment.
· Document and report accidents and injuries in accordance with school policies.
Administrative Support / Secretary Function:
· Greet parents, visitors, and callers and respond to their inquiries or direct them to the appropriate individuals accordingly.
· Answer, vet, and route all incoming calls, provide information to callers, and accurately document messages for all staff, or transfer calls to appropriate parties.
· Serve as the first line of communication when parents call or visit a school.
· Perform general clerical functions such as scheduling, copying, faxing, and mailing.
· Perform clerical tasks for teaching staff and school administrators.
· Prepare written materials such as correspondence, agendas, meeting minutes, bulletins, and reports.
· Respond to inquiries from a wide variety of internal customers (i.e., students, employees, and volunteers) and external customers (i.e., parents, visitors, and vendors).
· Write, type, and circulate meeting notes, scheduled correspondence, or reports.
· Discover and connect appropriate files to incoming communication demanding replies.
· Receive, record, and distribute incoming mail or other materials and answer routine letters.
· Make copies of correspondence or other printed material.
Communicate with Parents:
· Notify parents immediately when a student visits the clinic for any reason, including minor illnesses, injuries, or behavioral concerns.
· Provide clear and concise information about the student's condition and any necessary follow-up care.
· Document the reason for the visit and any necessary follow-up actions.
· Document all parent communications.
Maintain a Clean and Sanitary Clinic Environment:
· Ensure the clinic is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
· Follow infection control protocols to prevent the spread of illness.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Certification in first aid and CPR is essential.
· Previous experience in a healthcare setting or with children preferred.
· Strong customer service skills and ability to interact with students, parents, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
· Excellent organizational and time management skills.
· Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
· Attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working in a school environment.
· Bilingual skills.
· Bachelor's degree.
Physical Requirements:
· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
· Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
· Manual dexterity for typing and using office equipment.
