What are the responsibilities and job description for the Motion Graphics Designer position at Orlando Magic?

A quick summary about the Motion Graphics Designer role:

As the Motion Graphics Designer you will be responsible for creating dynamic, creative, and on-brand animated graphics for the Orlando Magic with a focus on digital content for team social media, app, broadcasts and in-game entertainment. In partnership with Content Studio producers and editors, this role will develop and implement animation and graphics content in an effort to elevate content.

 

What the Motion Graphics Designer will do:

  • Create and animate 2D and 3D motion graphics using Adobe After Effects.
  • Design and animate motion graphics for Content Studio needs including, but not limited to:
    • Social Media Animations
    • Features
    • Broadcast Elements
    • In-Game Entertainment
  • In collaboration with Content Studio producers and editors, develop and implement motion graphics into projects.
  • Design and animate logos, and other branding elements for the organization.
  • Ensure that all motion graphics meet the brand standards of the Orlando Magic or partner brand.
  • Contribute and play an active role in developing content.
  • Conceptualize, storyboard, and execute innovative designs and animation.
  • Maintain creative quality by keeping an awareness of industry trends in design, animation, and technology.
  • Collaborate with Content Studio producers and editors to provide feedback and recommendations on the ability for motion graphics to enhance projects in production.
  • Provide animation files to teammates with the proper specs for implementation.
  • All other duties as assigned.

           

          What the Motion Graphics Designer needs to have:

          • College degree requirement:  2-year degree in graphic design, computer animation, television and film production or equivalent experience.
          • 5 years of motion graphics experience required.
          • Expert knowledge of Adobe After Effects required.
          • Knowledge of file formats, encoding, and digital file delivery required.
          • Experience working with Cinema 4D strongly preferred.
          • Previous experience with motion tracking software and techniques preferred.
          • Ability to take constructive criticism and adjust designs accordingly.
          • Ability to work on tight deadlines and prioritize tasks.
          • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
          • Ability to clearly articulate a vision for design.
          • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
          • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
          • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required.
          • Proficient in all Microsoft Office products and other related computer skills required.
          • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends and be on-call as necessary based on the changing priorities of the department.
