What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Orlando Epilepsy Center?
The Medical Assistant is the first point of contact for patient care. Ensuring an exceptional patient experience is the goal of our practice. Basic responsibilities:
- Helps patients by providing information, services, and assistance.
- Maintains medical supplies inventory and performs preventive maintenance to keep medical equipment operating.
- Verifies patient information by interviewing patients, recording medical history, and confirming the purpose of the visit.
- Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests, taking blood pressure, weight, and temperature, reporting patient history summary, reviewing all medications.
- Facilitates provider’s schedule by completing daily Patient Chart Preparation, obtaining all lab results, test results, and prior medical records pertaining to the reason for the visit. Reviewing all documents, patient history on Patient Portal.
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records; completing diagnostic coding and procedure coding; and keeping patient information confidential.
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.
- Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational training videos.
- Serves and protects the practice by adhering to professional standards; facility policies and procedures; and federal, state, and local requirements.
- Enhances practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Maintains all Medical Assistant’s daily, weekly, and monthly clinical checklists.
- Reviews/verifies all patient documentation from Patient Portal.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- May have to travel to different offices as needed for coverage
