Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Understand completely all company policies, procedures, specifications, and guidelines.
- Perform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac annual required property inspections for performing and non-performing affordable, multifamily, seniors and healthcare loans within the portfolio.
- Perform required inspections tied to property condition assessments (PCA).
- Complete repair verification inspections to confirm corrective actions and capital repairs are complete in compliance with approved scope of work.
- Perform hazard loss inspections resulting from events such as fires, floods, storms, or other physical damage incidents.
- Evaluate building systems, site conditions, unit interiors, common areas, accessibility, deferred maintenance, and life safety components in accordance with agency standards.
- Identify physical, operational, environmental, and safety related risks and clearly document findings in inspection reports.
- Prepare accurate, timely, and well-supported written MBA inspection reports, including photographic documentation and professional commentary.
- Maintain current knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, HUD and industry inspection guidelines and best practices.
- Respond to all internal and external inquiries in a timely, accurate and professional manner and handle to conclusion.
- Provide exceptional client service to all stakeholders by having a heightened focus on prompt response times, providing accurate and detailed information, and finding solutions.
- Work closely with Asset Management team(s) to address any property condition, risk, and compliance issues.
- Support portfolio monitoring efforts and assist with special inspection assignments, as needed.
- Ensure compliance with internal quality standards, timelines, and reporting requirements.
- Travel extensively nationwide to inspect assigned properties, including urban, suburban, and rural locations.
- Prioritize cost-per-site by inspecting multiple properties per trip.
Education, Skills And Experience
- Education – bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of building systems, construction methods, and property condition assessment principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and list other relevant systems or software.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and people skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize assignments, and to meet critical and established deadlines; Ability to manage multiple assignments and transactions simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and to use discretion in the performance of daily activities.
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and constant interruptions; Ability to adjust priorities in a changing environment. Strong commitment to Accountability, Integrity, Exceptional Client Service, Teamwork and Development of Self and others.
- Completed at least twenty-five (25) multifamily asset inspections under supervision by a Certified or Exempt Inspector.
- Commitment to complete a minimum of 140 property inspections per year.
- Experience – Minimum of 5-7 years prior work experience in commercial real estate conducting property inspections.
- Successfully participated in a Freddie Mac-approved training program relating to property inspections, such as the Mortgage Bankers Association of America's (MBA) Multifamily Property Inspection Workshop, Fannie Mae's Property Risk Management Training or an equivalent inspection program.
