Position Overview
The Shop Foreman we be the shop’s senior technician and day‑to‑day leader. This is a hands‑on role focused on diagnostics and repair while also overseeing workflow, mentoring technicians, and ensuring quality standards. You’ll work closely with the operations team to keep operations running smoothly and deliver an exceptional customer experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Diagnostic Work
- Perform advanced diagnostics and repair across all major vehicle systems (engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical, HVAC, drivability).
- Use scan tools and shop equipment to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Maintain high personal productivity and accurately bill labor hours.
- Document all work, parts, and recommendations in AutoLeap (training provided if needed).
- Road‑test vehicles to verify repair quality and safety.
Shop Leadership & Team Oversight
- Lead and support a team of mechanics; assign jobs based on skill level, workload, and priority.
- Serve as the shop’s technical expert—assist with difficult diagnoses and mentor junior technicians.
- Manage daily workflow to keep jobs moving efficiently and minimize comebacks.
- Conduct or oversee final quality checks on completed repairs.
- Help recruit, train, and develop new technicians as the shop grows.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Customer & Operational Support
- Partner with operations to review repair needs, timelines, and recommendations.
- Explain repairs and options to customers in clear, honest terms.
- Uphold the shop’s reputation for integrity, transparency, and high‑quality work.
QualificationsRequired
- Professional automotive repair experience with strong competency across multiple repair categories.
- Advanced diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently on complex jobs.
- Experience mentoring or coordinating other technicians.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Personal set of professional hand tools.
- Ability to read and interpret repair manuals, technical bulletins, and diagnostic data.
Preferred
- ASE certifications (ASE Master Technician strongly preferred).
- Experience with shop management software.
- Prior experience running a shop floor or managing workflow.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Comfortable standing, bending, kneeling, and working in various positions for extended periods.
- Ability to work in a typical shop environment with noise, fluids, and varying temperatures.
Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
