Job Summary
This position provides direct support to the General Counsel on behalf of the Executive Leadership Team on corporate governance, business entity governance, recordkeeping, and general legal analysis with respect to strategic initiatives. This position joins an established Legal and Regulatory Compliance team working across all aspects of the organization.
Role and Responsibilities

- Maintaining and updating compliance databases.
- Supporting preparation of regulatory filings and responding to regulatory inquiries and examinations.
- Detecting, resolving, and preventing compliance deficiencies and regulatory risks.
- Supporting the legal and compliance groundwork for expansion into new markets.
- Assisting with draft preparation and reviewing of contracts, management of contract life cycle and contract database.
- Supporting the review of agreements and other legally binding documents to provide recommendations to manager.
- Researching federal and state corporate and insurance laws and translating their requirements to provide concise analysis to be used in decision making, operations, and workflows.
- Tracking and analyzing federal and state legislative and regulatory changes that affect our companies, and proactively incorporating the changes into our operations.
- Providing oversight of our company data vault or similar record keeping database.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- Degree from an approved US paralegal training institution, or an equivalent combination of education and corporate or law firm legal experience required
- At least 3 years’ experience as a Corporate Paralegal in the Insurance industry (preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication and follow-up skills required
- Strong research capabilities using LexisNexis, Westlaw, and other legal research platforms and resources
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and a strong sense of urgency and responsiveness
- Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
Physical Demands
While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or stoop to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.
Work Environment
The office environment is quiet and, in a temperature, controlled setting with random adjustments in noise or temperature due to conversations, unscheduled maintenance repairs to the building or its interior offices, or unpredictable situations due to weather or other acts beyond company control. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule for their duties and/or job responsibilities and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on the company/department needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
