POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for overseeing and enforcing the project quality control program while managing field construction activities to ensure all work is performed in accordance with project specifications, company standards, and applicable codes. The QA/QC Construction Superintendent provides leadership, coordination, and supervision of quality-related construction operations to ensure successful project execution.
The incumbent works closely with project management, QA/QC personnel, subcontractors, and clients to ensure quality expectations are clearly defined, implemented, and maintained throughout all phases of construction.
The incumbent must have the ability and flexibility to work varying shifts and long hours (8–12 hours). Weekend work and additional hours may be required based on production needs and at the discretion of management.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversees daily field operations with a strong focus on quality control, ensuring all construction activities comply with project specifications, drawings, and applicable codes.
- Implements and enforces the approved QA/QC Plan and ensures all inspection and testing requirements are properly executed.
- Supervises QA/QC Inspectors and field personnel to ensure consistent application of quality standards across all work activities.
- Coordinates with project management, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are clearly understood and achieved.
- Reviews and verifies inspection reports, test results, and quality documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Monitors concrete construction activities including formwork, reinforcing steel, embeds, placement, finishing, and curing.
- Ensures proper coordination of field testing activities such as slump, air content, temperature, and strength testing.
- Identifies, documents, and manages deficiencies and non-conformance issues, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Leads QA/QC meetings, reviews deficiency logs and punch lists, and provides updates on quality performance.
- Works proactively to identify opportunities to improve quality, reduce rework, and enhance overall project execution.
- Supports pre-construction meetings and collaborates with clients and stakeholders regarding quality expectations and requirements.
- Provides training and guidance to field staff on QA/QC procedures and best practices as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned or requested by management.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of seven (7) years of experience in concrete construction with progressive leadership responsibility, including QA/QC oversight.
- Strong knowledge of concrete construction practices, including structural and commercial work.
- Comprehensive understanding of QA/QC programs, inspection processes, and industry standards (ACI, ASTM, ICC etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and submittals.
- Proven leadership ability with experience supervising field personnel and QA/QC staff.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with project teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- Ability to identify quality issues and implement effective corrective actions.
- Must be detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- ACI Certification or other relevant inspection certifications preferred.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to travel between job sites within the Houston region as required

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
The incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable workplace accommodation.
The individual must also be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. This includes hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, ear plugs, steel toed shoes, or other protective equipment as required by the work performed and location the work is being done.
This individual must also have the ability to identify critical issues and formulate action plans with all levels of management, including corporate.
The incumbent must possess the ability to remain calm during emergencies and respond appropriately as dictated by the circumstance of the incident and as directed by the Safety Representative or other management personnel. Must be capable of evacuating the work area in a timely manner should an emergency situation arise.
