Electrical Engineer – Robotics & Medical Devices

A global medical technology organization is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and certification of robotic systems used in healthcare automation. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex, regulated products from concept through production in a highly collaborative engineering environment.
What You’ll Do
- Support electrical engineering efforts for new robotic product designs from concept through production, including design, prototyping, build, verification, validation, and certification
- Collaborate with cross-functional R&D teams on multiple projects in parallel
- Improve product quality and reliability using both theoretical and hands-on electrical engineering expertise
- Provide electrical solutions for updates to existing products, including:
- Manufacturing test setups
- Test application development and automation
- System diagnostics and monitoring tools
- Support for existing PCB designs
- Create and maintain technical documentation supporting electrical system development
- Support regulatory and certification activities across multiple product lines
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- 10 years of applicable electrical engineering experience
- Experience with:
- Motion control, AC power electronics, motors and controls
- Sensors, servo systems, and embedded control systems
- Proficiency with LabVIEW and/or LabWindows CVI for test automation
- Experience with Altium or similar PCB design tools (schematics, layout, PCBA documentation)
- System-level electrical architecture experience
- Ability to build prototype PCB assemblies and cables
- Experience with regulatory certifications (UL 61010 or UL 60601, CE, TÜV)
- Experience with EMI/EMC certification
Work Environment
- Onsite role in Durham, NC
- Minimum of 4 days per week in-office
