We seek a positive, energetic DIRECTOR OF HUMAN RESOURCES to oversee and execute all aspects of our HR function. The Director of HR will lead all aspects of human resources, driving a high-performance, employee-focused culture. This role will partner with leadership to develop HR practices that support empowerment, growth, compliance, and workforce excellence.
Duties and responsibilities of the Director of HR include:
- Serve as a key member of the OSS leadership team, guiding people strategy and organizational effectiveness;
- Maintain an effective HR department and structure to ensure legal and fair treatment of all staff members, balancing the needs of the business and the employees, including legal compliance and record-keeping;
- Lead full-cycle recruiting, onboarding, and retention initiatives;
- Support managers with coaching, performance management, and employee relations;
- Oversee benefits, compensation, and payroll support;
- Champion OSS’s culture, communication, and company events;
- Promote a safe workplace and continuous improvement in employee experience;
- Manage workers’ compensation questions and claims, as necessary, to ensure compliance with EEO, ADA, ERISA, and DOL requirements.
Minimum qualifications for the position include:
- At least five years of progressive HR experience, with exposure to multiple areas of HR including recruiting, compensation benchmarking, employee relations, compliance, workers’ compensation, performance management, etc.;
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject (HR, business, etc.), or comparable work experience;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills, building great rapport with people from diverse backgrounds;
- Must be an energetic, solutions-oriented person with sound operational/tactical HR skills, great critical thinking skills, a proactive approach, and good judgment;
- Work consistently in an ethical manner and maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality, plus SHRM-CP and/or PHR credentials are very strongly preferred; and
- Experience in the service industry is a plus.
