Tax Associate - Public Accounting

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Location

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Pleasant Grove, Utah.

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least 1 year of public accounting tax experience preparing federal and state income tax returns.

Job Description

• Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S corporations, C corporations, and other business entities
• Assist with multistate, consolidated corporate, and multi-tier partnership tax returns
• Prepare quarterly and annual estimated tax calculations for individuals and businesses
• Conduct tax research and analysis involving compliance matters and tax-planning opportunities
• Support clients with entity selection, real estate transactions, employee benefits, equity compensation, mergers, acquisitions, and business exit strategies
• Assist with quarterly and annual income-tax provision calculations under ASC 740
• Communicate with clients to gather information, resolve questions, and explain tax-related matters
• Stay current on new tax laws, regulations, rulings, and industry developments
• Collaborate with senior accountants, managers, and partners to complete engagements accurately and on time
• Participate in internal training and ongoing professional development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited college or university
• 1 year of public accounting tax experience
• Experience preparing individual and business income tax returns
• Understanding of federal and state income-tax compliance
• Strong tax research, analytical, organizational, and time-management skills
• Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines during busy season
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and professional tax-preparation software
• CPA license, CPA eligibility, or progress toward certification preferred
• Master’s degree in taxation or accounting with a tax emphasis preferred
• Experience with ProSystem, ProSeries, ASC 740, multistate taxation, or complex pass-through entities is a plus
