Location: Salt Lake City, UT. This is an on-site opportunity, with some remote flexibility available once you have established yourself with our team.
Note: Candidates must have a Utah Bar license or be eligible and willing to become admitted to the Utah Bar, along with 2 years of substantive tax law experience. Extensive, hands-on tax experience is essential; this role is best suited for attorneys who have made tax a meaningful part of their practice rather than dabbling in the area.

Job Description
- Advise nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations on complex federal tax matters.
- Counsel clients regarding tax-exempt status, unrelated business income, public charity and private foundation rules, governance, and compliance.
- Analyze federal tax issues and develop practical, legally sound strategies for clients.
- Draft and review legal documents, correspondence, memoranda, and other work product.
- Work directly with experienced attorneys and clients on sophisticated tax matters.
- Manage assigned matters with increasing autonomy while maintaining excellent attention to detail.
- Collaborate across practice areas when matters involve corporate, partnership, state and local, international, or nonprofit law considerations.
- Stay current on tax laws, regulations, and developments affecting clients.
- Deliver responsive, business-minded legal counsel while maintaining the highest professional and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- 2 years of substantive tax law experience.
- Extensive hands-on tax experience; candidates should have a meaningful tax-focused practice background.
- Active Utah Bar license, or admission to another U.S. state with willingness and ability to become admitted in Utah.
- Experience with federal tax matters involving nonprofit or tax-exempt organizations strongly preferred.
- Strong academic credentials and excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and handle sophisticated matters with minimal supervision.
- LL.M. in Taxation is helpful but not required.
