Senior Litigation Attorney – Construction / Medical Malpractice

Pay: $150,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year

Location

This is an on-site position in Poughkeepsie, New York. You'll work closely with an experienced litigation team while taking significant ownership of complex matters and client relationships.

Note:

Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar and have 5 years of construction litigation and/or medical malpractice litigation experience. Attorneys with 1 year of directly relevant experience may also be considered for a separate junior-level opportunity with our team.

Job Description

• Manage construction litigation and/or medical malpractice cases through all phases of litigation.
• Take ownership of commercial and civil litigation matters from initial assessment through trial or resolution.
• Draft and argue pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive litigation documents.
• Lead discovery, including document production, written discovery, and depositions.
• Conduct and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, conferences, and trials.
• Develop litigation strategies that align with client objectives and case-specific goals.
• Analyze complex legal and factual issues and provide practical, business-oriented advice.
• Work directly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other parties throughout litigation.
• Manage case strategy, deadlines, documentation, and junior team members as appropriate.
• Collaborate with attorneys and support professionals while independently driving matters forward.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active New York State Bar admission.
• 5 years of construction litigation and/or medical malpractice litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage sophisticated litigation matters.
• Strong deposition, discovery, motion practice, and case strategy experience.
• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Strong judgment and ability to provide strategic guidance to clients.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
• Trial, hearing, and mediation experience is highly valued.
