HSE (Health, Safety & Environmental) Specialist

Position Overview

The HSE Specialist is responsible for implementing and enforcing health, safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance programs to ensure a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment. This role focuses on conducting risk assessments, maintaining compliance with applicable regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture. Key areas include compliance management, emergency preparedness, safety training, and incident investigations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of HSE and regulatory compliance management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure full compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and all applicable federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, audits, and compliance assessments; identify hazards, perform risk evaluations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
  • Lead or assist in investigations of incidents, injuries, and near-misses; perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions in alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance documentation, permits, reports, and records required by regulatory agencies.
  • Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections, audits, and reporting processes.
  • Assist in managing vendor and contractor activities, ensuring all third parties adhere to company safety policies and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver safety and compliance training programs, including new hire orientation and ongoing employee education.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and execution of emergency response plans and drills to ensure regulatory readiness.
  • Promote a proactive safety and compliance culture through effective communication, coaching, and leadership.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2–5 years of experience in health, safety, and regulatory compliance roles, preferably within a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of OSHA standards, environmental regulations (e.g., EPA), and applicable building and fire codes.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and safety/compliance management systems.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
