About the Role: Reporting to the President, the Controller will play a key leadership role by overseeing accounting, financial reporting, human resources, and risk management processes. This individual will supervise two staff members and collaborate closely with other leaders to drive financial performance, develop operational metrics, and ensure business success. The role offers a hands-on opportunity for someone who thrives in a detail-driven and fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare and deliver monthly financial reports to leadership, ensuring timely and accurate results.
• Oversee all accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking.
• Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics (KPIs).
• Implement and maintain internal controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
• Manage and enhance payroll, benefits, and HR systems.
• Support business development, acquisitions, and risk management activities.
• Collaborate with leadership to provide critical financial insights and recommendations.
• Supervise staff handling billing, collections, and bank reconciliations.
• Handle wire transfers, ACH payments, and other treasury functions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and 7 years of experience in a financial leadership role in a manufacturing environment.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Controller or in a similar senior role.
• Strong skills in cost accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting.
• Proficient with QuickBooks, payroll software and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with contract reviews, tax compliance (payroll, property, sales), sophisticated banking systems, cyber security and other treasury roles.
• Previous supervisory experience is required.
• Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, risk management (e.g., insurance, workers’ compensation).
• Prior M&A experience to include due diligence a plus.
