Job Title: Insurance Authorization Specialist
Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm

Summary of Responsibility and Duties:
- Performs medical benefit investigation and confirmation
- Verifies and obtains prior authorizations per insurance requirements
- Verifies and obtains prescription authorizations
- Manages and processes incoming prescription refill requests
- Processes VA referrals/authorizations
- Performs other duties as assigned, potentially including cross training and coverage in other departments
Equipment/systems operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Practice Management Software, etc.
Work Environment: Position is in a well-lighted, on-site, medical office environment.
Physical Requirements: Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with in this type of role such as sitting for 80 percent of the day; manual dexterity to operate office machines including computer and calculator; stooping, bending to handle files and supplies; and mobility to complete errands or deliveries, lifting up to 20 lbs.
