HEAD CUSTODIAN
Job Purpose Statement/s: The job of "Head Custodian” is done for the purpose/s of under general direction participating in and supervising the custodial work at a school site and to do related work as required.
Essential Job Functions:
* Arranges furnishings and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and events.
* Assists in the multiple tasks necessary for the proper cleaning of (i.e. classrooms, offices, multipurpose rooms, grounds, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining a sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
* Confers with principal and supervisors regarding the care and cleaning programs at the school facilities.
* Delivers variety of items (e.g. supplies, mail, packages, furniture, etc.) for the purpose of distributing the materials to the appropriate parties.
* Directs personnel as assigned for the purpose of maximizing the efficiency of the workforce and meeting shift requirements.
* Procures equipment, supplies and materials for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
* Secures facilities and grounds for the purpose of minimizing property damage, loss and liability and ensuring safety at work site.
* Inspects buildings and grounds for waste, vandalism and hazardous conditions for the purpose of providing a safe facility.
* Operate a variety of equipment as necessary for the performance of the job.
Other Job Functions:
* Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
* Repairs furniture and equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are available and in safe working condition.
Job Requirements - Qualifications:
* Experience Required: Three years experience in custodial work, preferably including one year in a supervisory capacity and experience in a school and/or institutional setting is preferred.
* Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
Skills to use cleaning agents; supplies and equipment; perform basic math, to calculate accurate dilution of cleaning agents.
Knowledge of methods and use of cleaning materials, equipment, and supplies, safe work practices.
Abilities to follow oral and written instructions; adhere to safe work practices; work independently with minimal supervision; perform a variety of tasks and communicate with students, staff and the public. Supervise others to insure that scheduled work is done and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
* Education Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
* Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required: Valid Driver's License and evidence of insurability, Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance and current TB clearance.
