New Patient Referral Coordinator

We are seeking a prompt, detail-oriented, and compassionate Referral Coordinator to join our healthcare team. The Referral Coordinator is responsible for coordinating inbound patient referrals, obtaining and verifying insurance benefits, coordinating the provider's schedules, and closing referral loops. The ideal candidate has excellent organizational skills, strong communication abilities, leadership skills, and prior experience in both working with EMR systems and medical referrals.

Responsibilities

• Process incoming patient referrals in a timely manner
• Verify insurance eligibility and benefits
• Obtain prior authorizations and insurance approvals if needed
• Coordinate appointments with provider availability
• Maintain accurate patient records in the EMR system
• Communicate with providers, patients, and insurance companies regarding referral status
• Follow up on pending referrals and ensure timely completion
• Scan and upload referral documentation into patient records
• Respond to patient questions regarding referrals and appointments
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and organizational policies
• Worker's compensation case management
• Personal injury case management
• VA referral management

Qualifications

Required:

• High school diploma or GED
• 1–2 years of medical referral coordination experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Experience with EMR/EHR systems
• Strong computer, phone, and customer service skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred:

• Experience with prior authorizations and insurance verification
• Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
• Worker's compensation case experience
• Personal injury case experience
• VA referral experience

Schedule

• Monday–Friday
• 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
• No weekends

Pay: $17.00 - $21.00 per hour
