What are the responsibilities and job description for the Housekeeper position at Origins Behavioral Health?
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure the cleanliness of all assigned areas, including client rooms, restrooms, offices, group rooms, and kitchens. Tasks include vacuuming, dusting, mopping, cleaning vents, walls, floors, light fixtures, and other general cleaning duties across all OTR campuses.
- Follow required procedures for handling, cleaning, disposing, and moving materials, including the clean-up of blood, infectious materials, or other biohazards, in compliance with OSHA, state health regulations, and the Company’s Exposure Control Plan. Report safety hazards, accidents, and broken equipment to the Director of Facility Operations.
- Operate mechanized cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and polishers.
- Maintain flexibility in scheduling; willingness to work beyond normal hours, including weekends, as needed to meet business needs or in emergency situations.
- Perform laundry duties as required, including the proper cleaning and care of linens.
- Attend and actively participate in required staff meetings and training programs.
- Maintain housekeeping carts in a clean, organized, and fully stocked condition.
- Follow all safety precautions and infection control guidelines in housekeeping areas.
- Comply with all Origins Texas Recovery policies and procedures.
- Maintain client and potential client confidentiality in accordance with Origins Texas Recovery.

- Able to read, write, and speak English fluently and Spanish.
- Able to respond quickly to crisis situations.
- Able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for maintaining cleanliness across all OTR facilities. This includes sanitizing and ensuring a comfortable, orderly, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. The role also involves regularly communicating with the Director of Facility Operations regarding the ongoing needs of the facilities.
