What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Administrative Assistant position at Origin Legal?
Description
Origin Legal is a small business law firm in Ogden. We work with owner-operated Utah companies on entity formation, contracts, business purchases and sales, trademarks, and business disputes.
This is a focused part-time role for someone who already knows how a professional office runs. It is a small number of hours doing a specific set of things well, not a general assistant job. We are hiring for competence rather than availability.
What you would own
· Business filings. Utah Division of Corporations registrations and annual renewals, EIN applications, and related state and federal forms.
· Signatures and documents. Routing agreements for electronic signature and tracking them through execution.
· Calendar and deadlines. Getting client deadlines onto the calendar and keeping it accurate.
· Client follow-through. Keeping open matters from going quiet. Status check-ins and scheduling.
· Billing prep. Organizing time records and matter summaries for attorney review.
· Files. Maintaining electronic client files, plus scanning and certified mailings.
Who this is for
You have done this work somewhere before. A law firm, a title company, a CPA or bookkeeping practice, an insurance agency, a medical office, or another deadline-driven professional setting.
You are precise, you finish things, and you follow up without being reminded. You are comfortable telling a busy person that something is due. You can hold confidential information and you understand why that matters in a law office.
Why the hours are what they are
This is 12 to 15 hours per week, scheduled as two-three fixed blocks rather than scattered time. Because the hours are limited we are hiring for experience rather than training someone up. You should be productive in week one.
This is the firm's first administrative hire and there is more than enough work behind it. The role grows if it works.
What this is not
This is not a paralegal or attorney position and does not involve giving legal advice. It is also not a reception role. We are not asking you to cover the phones.
