General Summary

The Tissue Processing Supervisor at Origin Biologics leads processing teams to deliver against production plans, ensuring the efficient flow of tissue through all stages of the processing lifecycle. The role coordinates personnel and priorities, monitors progress, and resolves operational challenges to maintain continuity of supply. With a strong focus on quality and compliance, it oversees the suitability of processed tissue and ensures all activities align with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. This position is critical to achieving planned production outcomes and supporting the delivery of safe, efficacious allograft products. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate full competency through the consistent application of knowledge and skills required for the position.
• Perform duties and responsibilities outlined in the Tissue Processing Technician job description.
• Lead and supervise tissue processing activities to ensure production objectives, quality standards, and processing timelines are achieved.
• Monitor environmental conditions to ensure cleanliness and approved working conditions are maintained.
• Ensure tissue processing technicians receive appropriate training, instruction, and ongoing development.
• Review and approve documentation within the area of responsibility to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
• Partner with the Operations Manager to ensure production requirements and inventory levels are maintained.
• Participate in the research, development, and implementation of new allograft products and processing techniques.
• Monitor the condition, maintenance, and performance of equipment and instrumentation used in tissue processing.
• Identify equipment and instrumentation improvements and communicate upgrade recommendations to the Operations Manager.
• Train, mentor, and motivate Tissue Processing Technicians to achieve a thorough understanding of Standard Operating Procedures.
• Demonstrate, promote, and enforce proper aseptic technique throughout all tissue processing activities.
• Demonstrate, promote, and enforce workplace safety practices related to tissue processing, equipment operation, and instrumentation use.
• Maintain a thorough understanding of and compliance with AATB standards, OSHA regulations, and company procedures.
• Ensure audit readiness and support internal, external, and regulatory audits as required.
• Promote a culture of workplace safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
• Communicate effectively with Operations Management regarding production performance, staffing needs, and operational challenges.
• Participate in continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and product quality.

Technical Skills

• Sound understanding of Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and aseptic technique.
• Basic understanding of microbiological principles as applied to tissue processing.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and production demands.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Working knowledge of AATB standards, OSHA regulations, and quality system requirements.

 Experience

• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in a tissue processing, tissue banking, medical device, biologics, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Demonstrated experience processing one or more of the following tissue types: demineralized bone matrix, soft tissue, orthopedic/structural allografts, dental, plastics, and/or dermis.
• Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in a tissue processing, tissue banking, medical device, biologics, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
• Commitment to the highest ethical standards given the sensitive nature of human tissue work.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, make sound decisions, and access information required to complete assigned responsibilities.

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Biology or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience.
