Business Intelligence Developer

As our Business Intelligence Developer you will report to the Data and BI division of Oriental Trading Company and provide data solutions to stakeholders throughout the company. This role emphasizes Tableau development while also covering broader BI and data engineering responsibilities. This position will work with data engineers and business stakeholders to gather requirements, develop, test and deploy reporting solutions. This position is located onsite in Omaha, NE. Detailed Description Principal Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions Convert business needs into clear, actionable technical specifications for structural changes and reporting solutions. Create interactive Tableau dashboards and reports to address evolving business requirements. Assist in decommissioning legacy reporting systems by migrating them to Tableau. Manage Tableau Server, including user permissions, data source publishing, performance tuning, scheduling, and health monitoring. Oversee software upgrades, apply patches, enforce security protocols, ensure data governance compliance, and collaborate with IT on infrastructure and deployment. Perform logical and physical data modeling to support business intelligence initiatives. Design, deployment and maintenance of BI and Data systems ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability. Build and maintain data pipelines, semantic data models, and reporting layers to support a wide range of analytics use cases. Develop business insights into all categories of data. Query and database structure optimization using SQL as it pertains to the Cloud data warehouse is required. Collaborate with stakeholders and subject-matter experts to establish technical vision and analyze trade-offs between usability and performance needs. Act as liaison between the business areas and IT. Maintain detailed documentation on processes and procedures. Abide by all policies and procedures of Oriental Trading Company. Main regular and predictable attendance. May be required to perform any of the above functions at any of the company locations. Marginal Functions Support the SAS application for generation of statistical customer models. Support Informatica cloud ETL processes. Assist in the setup of new users with database toolsets and security access requests to the infrastructure admin areas. Performs other related duties and projects as assigned. Here’s what you need to join the fun: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Education Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Marketing, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience 3 to 5 years database reporting and analysis, information technology, or related experience, supporting small to mid-size databases and reporting solutions. Other Qualifications Experience in both relational and multi-dimensional data modeling and architecture in traditional or Cloud database environment – Snowflake preferred but not required. 3+ years of experience in BI development with hands-on experience in Tableau Desktop and Tableau Server administration Intermediate level SQL required. Experience with cloud base architecture, data migration and data analytics preferred. Informatica IICS / Unix/Linux Scripting is a plus.
