What are the responsibilities and job description for the Content and Brand Intern position at Ori-Lane?
Ori-Lane is a curated marketplace connecting independent African fashion and lifestyle brands with customers around the world.
With Phase 1 beginning in West Africa, we’re building the infrastructure that enables exceptional African brands to reach global customers through one trusted platform.
As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a creative storyteller to help shape the way people experience Ori-Lane at every touchpoint.
As our Content & Brand Intern, you will be one of the primary storytellers behind the Ori-Lane brand.
You will help transform ideas into compelling stories, creating content that educates, inspires, builds trust, and strengthens our marketplace community.
You’ll produce written, visual, and short-form video content that introduces customers to incredible African fashion and lifestyle brands while also communicating the value of joining Ori-Lane as a seller.
From founder stories and marketplace updates to educational posts, campaigns, and our flagship editorial series, your work will help define how the world experiences the Ori-Lane brand.
You will work closely with the Community & Growth Intern, receiving campaign briefs, partnership updates, and community insights, then transforming them into polished, engaging content across multiple platforms.
This role focuses on content creation, editorial storytelling, and brand communication rather than community management or growth strategy.
- Research, write, and publish Ori-Lane’s weekly LinkedIn editorial articles, ensuring every piece reflects the company’s editorial voice, mission, and long-term vision.
- Produce The Brand Edit, Ori-Lane’s flagship brand feature series, by researching featured brands, developing compelling narratives, coordinating assets, and preparing each feature for publication.
- Create engaging written content across LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, email newsletters, blogs, and other digital platforms.
- Develop seller-focused content that helps prospective brands understand the value of joining the Ori-Lane marketplace.
- Create customer-facing content that helps shoppers discover independent African fashion and lifestyle brands while building trust in the marketplace.
- Design branded graphics and marketing assets using Canva while maintaining consistency with the Ori-Lane visual identity.
- Create and edit short-form videos for social media using tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Rush, Canva, or similar platforms.
- Experiment with AI-powered creative tools to improve the speed and quality of content production while maintaining Ori-Lane’s editorial standards.
- Maintain and organize the editorial calendar, ensuring content is planned, approved, and delivered on schedule.
- Organize and maintain a shared library of brand assets, photography, founder materials, logos, templates, video footage, and published content for easy collaboration across the team.
- Repurpose long-form content into multiple formats, including social media posts, email campaigns, carousel posts, video scripts, short-form clips, and promotional materials.
- Collaborate closely with the Community & Growth Intern to transform marketplace campaigns, partnerships, and community initiatives into compelling content.
- Monitor industry trends, conversations, and cultural moments to identify timely storytelling opportunities that strengthen the Ori-Lane brand.
Experience with some (not necessarily all) of the following tools is preferred:
- Canva
- CapCut or another video editing platform
- AI image and video generation tools (Runway, Pika, Sora or similar)
- AI writing and research tools
- Google Workspace (Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drive)
- Content scheduling platforms such as Buffer, Later, Metricool, or similar
- Hands-on experience building the brand and editorial voice of a live international marketplace.
- Direct mentorship from a founder with over 13 years of entrepreneurship experience spanning fashion, branding, marketing, and startup building.
- Ownership of The Brand Edit, Ori-Lane’s flagship editorial series showcasing outstanding African fashion and lifestyle brands.
- Practical experience creating content across multiple formats, including editorial writing, video, social media, campaigns, newsletters, and marketplace storytelling.
- A strong professional reference letter from the CEO.
- First consideration for a paid Brand, Content, or Marketing role as the company continues to grow.
- Exposure to African fashion and lifestyle industries, cross-border commerce, startup marketing, AI-assisted content creation, and marketplace strategy.
We’re looking for a student studying Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Media, Fashion Business, Graphic Design, Digital Media, English, Public Relations, or a related field.
You enjoy telling stories that educate, inspire, and build communities.
You understand that great content isn’t simply attractive—it solves problems, builds trust, and creates meaningful connections between people and brands.
You’re naturally curious, highly organized, creative, and comfortable working independently while collaborating with a fast-moving startup team.
You enjoy writing, researching, designing, editing videos, experimenting with AI tools, and finding creative ways to communicate ideas across multiple platforms.
Experience using Canva, video editing software, AI creative tools, or content scheduling platforms is strongly preferred but not required.
An interest in African fashion, lifestyle brands, entrepreneurship, marketplaces, branding, or the African diaspora is highly desirable.
