What are the responsibilities and job description for the Member Service Representative position at Organized Labor Credit Union?
General Description:
As the first point of member contact, welcome members to the branch and provide them with exceptional member service. Process monetary transactions, balance daily transactions according to policies and procedures. Assist Credit Union members with their banking needs and effectively identify products and services to help meet those needs. Take ownership of every member’s experience and promote and maintain a positive image of the Credit Union. Maintain quality and service standards set by the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist members in a friendly and professional manner
- Provide excellent member service by addressing member inquiries and resolving issues
- Receive and process member transactions accurately, including but not limited to check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, payments, wires and transfers
- Ensure pertinent account information is updated
- Open new accounts
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
- Identify members needs and promote and educate members on products, and services
- Follow cash management procedures to ensure accurate cash handling
- Proactively support the credit union’s culture
- Ensures confidentially in all member transactions
- Answer calls in a timely and courteous manner
- Participate in AML/BSA compliance training as assigned. Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws related to credit union compliance, including Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering laws as appropriate to the position
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High School or GED required
- Strong math skills, including proficiency in retail math calculations
- Credit union or financial institution experience preferred but not required
- Experience with cash management and operating cash registers
- Proficient in 10-key typing for accurate data entry
- Team oriented
- Task oriented
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to communicate effectively and maintain effective working relationships
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
