Grant Writer / Grants Specialist (Contract, Performance-Based)
The Organization for Paranormal Understanding and Support (OPUS) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1994. For more than three decades, OPUS has provided education, support, and resources for individuals who have experienced unusual, paranormal, or anomalous events.
Today, OPUS serves a growing international community through educational programs, support networks, research initiatives, and public outreach. Our mission is to foster understanding, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and provide a safe, supportive environment for those seeking answers and connection.
OPUS is seeking an experienced Grant Writer / Grants Specialist to identify funding opportunities and help secure grants that support our mission and programs. This is a contract, performance-based opportunity ideal for an independent grant professional with experience researching, writing, and submitting successful grant applications. The selected candidate will work closely with OPUS leadership to develop compelling funding proposals, identify prospective funders, and build a sustainable grant strategy.
- Research grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government agencies
- Evaluate funding opportunities and alignment with OPUS programs and mission
- Write and submit persuasive grant proposals and letters of inquiry
- Coordinate with organizational leadership to gather program information and impact metrics
- Track application deadlines and reporting requirements
- Help establish and maintain relationships with funders and philanthropic organizations
- Demonstrated experience writing successful grant proposals
- Strong research, writing, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently
- Knowledge of grant budgeting and proposal development
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Familiarity with nonprofit fundraising and donor relations is a plus
